The correct equipment- raw materials and consumables will be provided and the candidate must know how to use the same in a safe manner following practices that ensure safety for self- others and the work environment and and assess weld quality through visual inspection.
Perform manual oxy-fuel cutting for a range of standard cutting job requirements using oxy-fuel gas. This is for a skilled cutter who can cut carbon steels in the basic positions.
Perform manual TIG (GTAW) welding for a range of standard welding job requirements. This is for a skilled welder who can weld different materials (carbon steel- low alloy steel) in various positions and prepare various joints including corner- fillet and tee. It also involves set-up and preparation of the equipment and materials provided for operations and interpreting the right information from the WPS.
It covers setting- adjustment- validation or verification of mechanical- pneumatic- hydraulic- electrical- electronic- measuring and control instruments using reference standards in accordance with predetermined standard procedures.
It involves carrying out CNC grinding operations in line with safe working practices and approved procedures- to continuously monitor the machining operations and- where necessary- make minor adjustments or seek the help of the setter to make the required adjustments- in order to ensure that the work output is to the required quality and accuracy.
It involves removal of metal from the outer diameter of a rotating cylindrical workpiece. It also involves inspecting the components and continuously monitoring of the machining operations and making minor adjustments in order to ensure that the work output is to the required quality and accuracy.
It involves producing components that combine a number of different features, such as flat faces, parallel faces, faces square to each other, faces at an angle, steps/shoulders, open and enclosed slots, drilled, bored and reamed holes, internal threads, and special forms. It involves continuously monitoring, inspecting the components and meeting production targets.
