A trainee attending the course on ‘CO2 welder’ shall be able to read fabrication drawing, examine, clean and clamp parts to be welded. The trainee shall be able to connect work piece with earth cable, welding machine with suitable gas cylinder, regulator, flow meter, and pre-heater when CO2 is used as shielding gas. The trainee shall be able to select suitable wire electrode, feed it to welding CO2 Welding torch through wire feeder, select contact tip gas nozzle and fit into the CO2 welding torch, preheat joints, start the Constant Voltage CO2 welding machine, set suitable welding voltage & wire feed speed and shielding gas flow, produce arc between work piece and continuously fed wire electrode. The trainee also melts the metal and deposit weld beads on the surface of metals or joins metal pieces such as carbon steels, and low alloy steels to a required quality, minimizing distortion and avoiding weld defects.
