A Buffing Operator performs the process of removing the grain on the leather by abrasion. More particularly he/ she removes the flesh side of the leather by mechanical abrasion to produce a suede effect, or to reduce the substance. The process is also known as "snuffing", if removal is on the grain side of the leather. The aim of the buffing/ snuffing operation is to improve the uniformity of the grain appearance.

Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAD/CAM) operator uses computer hardware and graphics software to generate design drawings. CAD equipment enables operators to quickly design and produce very accurate and realistic images of leather footwear to be manufactured. Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) system automatically produces finished designs by using computer controlled production machines.

A Cut Component Passer is an important job-role associated with Footwear sector. The primary responsibility of a Cut Component Passer is to inspect each and every cut component in cutting department before being despatched to next department to reduce the overall rejection rate.

The individual will learn • Perform hand cutting operation in footwear • Carry out machine cutting operations • Check the quality of the cut product • Performs basic maintenance on the cutting machines • Maintain the required health and safety aspects • Follow the organizational guidelines and rules

The individual, as a part of the job role, lays out, marks, and cuts leather or non-leather material into parts for articles using cutting dies. The critical component of the role is to position leather/non-leather for cutting to ensure good number and quality of cut pieces
