A checker is an important job-role associated with Apparel sector. The primary responsibility of a checker is to identify the faults in the fabrics, cut components, garment parts or finished products through visual inspection. As Checker, the individual inspects the accuracy of the dimensions of the stitched parts and the finished apparel. The primary responsibility of a checker is to measure all the dimension of the apparel and ensure they are free from defects.

The individual is responsible for creating style design along with the pattern making, grading transferring to fabric. He /She uses variety of sewing techniques and creates variation in style features & make classified garments like formals, party wears, etc.

Computer Aided Embroidery & Designing operates semiautomatic sewing machine with multiple-sewing heads controlled by pattern chain that embroiders designs on garments or garment parts done through the computerized embroidery machine. Positions garment, places hoop frame on machine bed, starts machine to sew design onto garment, rethreads machine for multi colour designs, monitors the progress and ensure the required quality of embroidery is achieved.

The individual embroiders various designs on fabric or garments by machines. Selects size and colour of thread and amounts bobbins of thread or machine. Threads needle and pass yarn through carrier of machine. Adjusts machine for thread tension and type of stitch. Presses lever to raise needle and inserts material under it. Guides material or sewing arm of machine in accordance with drawing or outline or guide points of pantograph on enlarged design etc.

The individual embroiders various designs on fabric or garments by machines. Selects size and colour of thread and amounts bobbins of thread or machine. The individual will be able to impart theoretical instructions, demonstrate practical skills, evaluate and grade trainees of Computer Aided Embroidery & Designing (CITS)trade in industrial workshops, ITIs/Vocational Training Institutes etc.

The visually impaired & other disabled person  may work as general tailor & cutter (hand), (textile Product) under close supervision of the supervisor. He/she is able to identify, select and make hand stitches in the given fabric by selecting different types of pattern; Draft paper pattern making, cloth cutting of ladies, kids & gents wear by taking appropriate body measurement & recording dimension. The person able to stitch seams with seam finishes, darts, pleats, tucks, frills, hem, casing, edge finishing, neck lines, pocket, collar, sleeves, cuff etc

Cutting Sewing (VI)may work as general tailorcutter (hand) (textile product) under close supervision of the supervisor with some responsibility for own work within defined limit. She/Hewill be able toidentify, select and make hand stitches in the given fabric by selecting different types of pattern draft paper pattern making, cloth cutting of ladies, kids gents wear by taking appropriate body measurement recording dimension, stitch seams with seam finishes darts, pleats, tucks, frills, hem, casing, edge finishing, neck lines, pocket, collar, sleeves, cuff etc.

Cutting & Sewing (VI)may work as general tailor&cutter (hand) (textile product) under close supervision of the supervisor with some responsibility for own work within defined limit. She/ He will be able to identify, select and make hand stitches in the given fabric by selecting different types of pattern; draft paper pattern making, cloth cutting of ladies, kids & gents wear by taking appropriate body measurement & recording dimension, stitch seams with seam finishes, darts, pleats, tucks, frills, hem, casing, edge finishing, neck lines, pocket, collar, sleeves, cuff etc.

This unit provides Performance Criteria, Knowledge & Understanding and Skills & Abilities required to organize/ maintain work areas and activities to ensure tools and machines are maintained as per norms. It also covers procedures and compliance standards to identify, prevent, control, minimize and eliminate hazards and potential risks to self and others at the workplace.

Measures customers, records measurements and cuts parts of garment from cloth/textile, leather for making garment/ gloves and miscellaneous products of required size and style. Stitches together parts of garments etc. by hand/machine, inserts inner material, makes embroidery work, button-holes etc. Supervise stitching, making and finishing work of garments. Press garments, tries them when prepared on customer and marks them with chalk for any alterations to be made. Finally fits garment on customer.

The individual is able to design Digital Fashion Portfolio and explore different aspects of the techniques in Portfolio Designing, demonstrate fashion croquis and attire the garment designs with different prints and effects, develops own illustration styles of formal wear, casual wear, etc.

The candidate will able to drafts & cut the fabric as per the measurements provided for trouser & pyjama
