This unit provides Performance Criteria, Knowledge & Understanding and Skills & Abilities required to organize/ maintain work areas and activities to ensure tools and machines are maintained as per norms. It also covers procedures and compliance standards to identify, prevent, control, minimize and eliminate hazards and potential risks to self and others at the workplace.
Supervisor (cutting) is responsible for monitoring cutting operations, quality and smooth running of cutting processes with junior management cadres working as a team.
Measures customers, records measurements and cuts parts of garment from cloth/textile, leather for making garment/ gloves and miscellaneous products of required size and style. Stitches together parts of garments etc. by hand/machine, inserts inner material, makes embroidery work, button-holes etc. Supervise stitching, making and finishing work of garments. Press garments, tries them when prepared on customer and marks them with chalk for any alterations to be made. Finally fits garment on customer.
The individual is able to design Digital Fashion Portfolio and explore different aspects of the techniques in Portfolio Designing, demonstrate fashion croquis and attire the garment designs with different prints and effects, develops own illustration styles of formal wear, casual wear, etc.

The individualstitches together parts of different ladies and gents’ garments by hand and machine according to instructions of Master Cutter. The individual inserts inner material, makes embroidery work, button-holes etc., attaches lining, lace, button etc. and performs other finishing tasks Carries out alterations as directed and may press garments.

A trainee of the course ‘Dress Making’ constructs dresses for children (Yoke Frock), dresses for teenagers, ladies dress, ladies suit, ladies night wear, ladies blouse, gents shirt, and gents trouser, according the sketched designs and blocks using adaptation/draping and manipulation techniques.
