Job Description

"Goldsmith (Sunar) is the name of the community and is derived from the word Sona meaning Gold and people who work with gold are called Sunar or Sonar or Swarnkar or Goldsmiths or Silversmiths. A Sunar or Goldsmith is a metalworker who specializes in working with precious metals like Gold and silver. Historically they not only specialize in jewellery making but also in silverware, platters, goblets, decorative utensils, etc. They are skilled in making jewellery or ornaments using handmade precious metal forming and finishing processes like filing, sawing, sawing, soldering, polishing, etc. These hand skills are included in our job role or trade named, Jewellery Frame and Component Maker."
